Job summary

SSEN Transmission in Scotland is seeking a Project Director to join the Onshore Capital Delivery team. You will lead the delivery of a portfolio of high-value transmission projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget outcomes with strong financial, quality and risk control.

The role requires extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure, a commercial mindset, and proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams. A focus on safety and collaborative culture is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading large-scale projects (over £300 million) in high-value transmission or major infrastructure.
• Strong commercial mindset with proven ability to negotiate contracts.
• Experience in financial planning for large capital projects, budgets and forecasting.
• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and foster inclusivity.
• Delivery-focused with ability to meet tight deadlines in demanding environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement with emphasis on health, safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of a portfolio of high-value transmission projects (£1bn–£2bn).
• Develop and lead commercial strategy; negotiate contracts with Tier 1 partners.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to support objectives.
• Inspire and develop a high-performing, collaborative team.
• Ensure safety at all times in line with SSE safety licence.
• Identify and drive continuous improvements in delivery processes.
