Job summary

SSEN Transmission in Scotland seeks a Project Director for the Onshore Capital Delivery team. You will lead a portfolio of high-value transmission projects (£1bn–£2bn), delivering on time and to budget with robust commercial and contract management.

Required is extensive experience on large-scale infrastructure (£300m+), a strong commercial mindset, ability to negotiate contracts, and proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams with a commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading projects over £300m in value, ideally in high-value transmission or major infrastructure.
• Strong commercial mindset with proven contract negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to plan and manage budgets, forecasts and financial alignment for large capital projects.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and building an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Delivery-focused track record in demanding, time-constrained project environments.
• Commitment to health, safety and wellbeing across all activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of a large portfolio of complex, high-value transmission projects (£1bn–£2bn), delivering on time and to budget with robust financial, quality and risk management.
• Develop and lead on the commercial strategy, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships to ensure robust delivery.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders to support delivery objectives across the business.
• Inspire and develop a high-performing team with a focus on delivery and commercial outcomes.
• Ensure safety is central to all activities and align with SSE safety standards.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement within project delivery processes.
