Project Accounting Manager/Finance Manager

Lead the finance function, working closely with the Managing Director to ensure the efficient operation and delivery of all financial activities. Actively participate as part of the leadership team.

• Manage the Finance and Administration function, ensuring timely and efficient completion of all activities
• Handle finance duties including balance sheet reconciliations, end-of-year accounts, weekly cash flow forecasting, monthly reporting, credit control, and reconciliations to trial balance
• Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules
• Oversee payroll, CIS, and VAT submissions
• Support sales and operations teams in maintaining accurate data for estimating and construction work applications to ensure proper job costing and profitability reporting
• Conduct financial analysis for bespoke projects
• Highlight risks and opportunities to the business director and operations management
• Perform general office administration tasks typical of a small business
• Review and improve processes to enhance efficiency and meet business needs
• Manage the team, including performance reviews, training, and development

Skills:

• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, with ACCA, CIMA, or AAT qualification
• Knowledge of cost control strategies and techniques
• Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, including 'reverse VAT'
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex financial data
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience within the construction industry and knowledge of applications for payment schemes
• Effective team management skills with a positive, supportive approach
• Proficiency with Sage or similar accounting packages
• Excellent systems, data management, and MS Excel skills (pivot tables, queries, etc.)
• A proactive individual who thrives in a small company environment
