Job summary

The Social Change Nest seeks a Programme and Community Manager to lead community engagement and programme delivery for Brent Giving. You will support resident participation, strengthen local relationships, and oversee participatory grantmaking activities to build trust and enhance grassroots involvement in Brent.

This hybrid, 30 hrs/week role is fixed-term for 6 months, with offices in Brent. You will report to the Co-Directors and work across community forums and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Experience of community organising and engagement.
  • Excellent relationship-building and facilitation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Brent's communities and local voluntary sector.
  • Experience delivering community programmes or grant-making initiatives.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including attending community meetings and events.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Experience of participatory grant making.
  • Experience working with resident-led decision-making processes.
  • Understanding of community philanthropy and social justice approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, community groups and local leaders.
  • Act as a visible and accessible representative of Brent Giving across the borough.
  • Support residents to participate in funding and decision-making processes.
  • Facilitate networking and collaboration between community organisations.
  • Lead delivery of participatory grantmaking programmes.
  • Co-ordinate recruitment, induction and support for resident ambassadors and grant panels.
  • Ensure funded organisations receive appropriate support and guidance.
  • Monitor programme progress and contribute to impact reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen community partnerships.
  • Represent Brent Giving at meetings, events and community forums.
  • Champion inclusive and community-led approaches to funding.
  • Encourage participation from underrepresented communities.
  • Support learning and continuous improvement across programmes.

Purpose of the Role

The Programme and Community Manager will lead community engagement and programme delivery for Brent Giving, supporting resident participation, strengthening local relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of participatory grantmaking activities. The role will play a key part in building trust, increasing community involvement, and supporting grassroots organisations across Brent.

Person Specification
  • Experience of community organising, community development or engagement.

Reporting Line

This post will report to one of the Co-Directors and support the delivery of our strategic priorities: organisational sustainability, impact and growth.
