Established in 2000, Modern Networks is a growing IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Internet Service Provider (ISP) specializing in services for the property management sector and commercial businesses nationwide. We work closely with our customers to deliver a wide range of IT services, including endpoint technology, connectivity, and telephony. We partner with market-leading providers to deliver first-class services and solutions.

What you'll be doing:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our clients' network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a deep understanding of both WAN and LAN technologies and the ability to manage complex network environments.

The role is largely field-based. Our customers are UK-wide, primarily around London, Birmingham, and Manchester. Projects vary in scale, from full IT infrastructure managed services (including Data Cabling, Connectivity, Wireless Solutions, Hosted Telephony, and Desktop Services) to smaller projects like onboarding sites with few users.

Experience we are looking for:

  • Network Implementation: Configure and deploy network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other devices.
  • Network Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
  • Network Assessments and Audits: Conduct assessments to identify vulnerabilities and performance issues; provide reports and recommendations.
  • Technical Support: Offer remote and on-site support, resolving network issues promptly.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Security Management: Implement security measures like firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS; ensure policy compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technologies through ongoing learning.
  • Drivers Licence: Full UK
  • Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.

What you’ll get from us:

  • Opportunities for career progression as you gain expertise.
  • Knowledgeable, high-achieving colleagues.
  • A work environment supporting work-life balance.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Active workplace committees (Social and Wellness).
