Production Support Engineer

Description of the role:

We are looking for a Production Support Engineer with 2-5 years of experience working on an Order Management System or in a Trade Support function to join our OMS Support team. The team provides 1st and 2nd line application support across our Order Management systems, covering both systematic and discretionary order flow. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with investment professionals, traders, operations, and technologists to ensure efficient alpha realization across our traded markets.

Currently, we are renewing our Order Management systems strategically, making this a great time to influence improvements for our investment professionals.

Specific responsibilities:

1. Providing technical and business support to investment professionals, traders, and support functions, including quick resolution of application issues and driving stability and improvements.
2. Offering 1st and 2nd level support for business systems, escalating issues to development, infrastructure teams, or third parties as needed.
3. Managing incidents and problems, contributing to post-incident reviews, and ensuring timely stakeholder communication.
4. Recording and managing issues using Zendesk, following through to resolution.
5. Identifying recurring issues for development escalation and prioritization.
6. Monitoring hardware, applications, and environmental conditions using tools like OpsGenie & CheckMK (Nagios).
7. Managing production releases of Order Management systems.
8. Participating in Disaster Recovery planning, updating run books, and conducting DR tests.
9. Maintaining up-to-date procedures and policies in the knowledge base.
10. Writing SQL scripts to resolve user queries, testing, and scheduling releases outside regular hours.
11. Providing on-call or out-of-hours support as required.

Required skills and experience:

• 2+ years’ experience in application support within a financial services environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong desire to develop and deliver solutions.
• Logical and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to organize and execute complex, time-sensitive tasks.

Advantageous skills and experience:

• Experience working with Front Office teams such as Portfolio Managers or Traders.
• Interest in understanding work processes and efficiency improvements.
• Quick learner of new technologies, systems, and business processes.
• Familiarity with FIX Protocol.
• Understanding of the trade lifecycle for FICC and equities.
• Experience in writing SQL queries.
