Job description

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR, MANCHESTER, £30-35,000 BASIC PLUS GREAT BENEFITS. Major European Company offering opportunities to progress. Double Days Shift 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm Monday to Friday.

The Company

Our client is a leading name in several fields of manufacturing, with a major European and UK presence spanning numerous operational plants.

The Role

1. To be a second line of leadership and management, reporting into and supporting the Production Manager.
2. Taking responsibility / ownership of delivering daily performance targets.
3. Improve the understanding and urgency of team members to develop their skills, become proactive, and motivated to meet performance targets.
4. Monitor and drive line performance by motivating operators and focusing Engineers on restrictions and problems preventing production targets.
5. Challenge and improve standard operating procedures, ensure adherence and communication once improved.
6. Be part of a professional, empowered team committed to providing high-quality products efficiently.

Responsibilities

1. Plan daily operations of the lines to prevent ‘emergency’ situations related to raw materials, equipment failure, or product issues.
2. Develop team members to cover for absences such as holidays or sickness.
3. Organize staffing levels, break, and holiday cover to ensure continuous operation.
4. Ensure effective product and line changeovers through proper planning and resource organization.
5. Maintain thorough knowledge of processes, machinery, and equipment.
6. Operate machinery within a zone to maintain targeted output with minimal interruption.
7. Supervise Operators to ensure task completion and quality standards.
8. Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to safety practices.
9. Support Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance performance, efficiency, and reliability.
10. Identify training needs and develop team members accordingly.
11. Use appraisal systems to improve performance with clear, measurable objectives.
