Job summary

Saputo UK is seeking a Process Operator to join our growing dairy operation. You’ll start at a station, learn the role, and rotate through stations as you gain experience, contributing to quality products including dairy-free options.

Full training, on-the-job support, and development opportunities are provided in a collaborative team environment. You should have basic IT skills and be able to work with a team, with an understanding of food hygiene.

Qualifications

• Basic IT skills and PC/HMI proficiency to monitor and control production equipment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot process issues on the line.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of basic food hygiene principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Identify and communicate opportunities to improve working methods.
• Measure and feed batches of raw materials into production machinery.
• Operate production line equipment including cheese slicers and graters.
• Report equipment faults to maintenance staff.
• Monitor production processes and carry out basic testing and record results.
• Store goods and raw materials and pack products for shipment.

SDUK's brands include the Nation's favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly, Wensleydale, and Sheese), functional ingredients and dairy free products.

This process operator position is one where you will gain experience of the making of dairy-free cheese, with your work going towards ensuring the production of quality products, both branded and private label (retailer own brands).

Within your role, you will be working at a station for your first few months, mastering the role, then gaining the opportunity to work at different stations along the process - offering variety in your day. If you need more time to develop, we will look at ways to support you further to help you get to where you need to be.

YOU'LL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY...

• Identifying and communicating opportunities to improve working methods
• Measuring, grading and feeding batches of raw materials into production machinery
• Operating production line equipment, including cheese slicers and graters
• Reporting equipment faults to maintenance staff
• Monitoring the production process and carrying out basic testing, quality checks, and recording results
• Storing goods and raw materials in the factory or warehouse
• Packing goods to be ready for shipment on pallets
• Cleaning and maintaining work areas and machinery
• Actively maintaining production records

YOU'RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE...

• Knowledgeable with basic IT skills. eg. ability to use a PC/HMI (with keyboard skills) with additional knowledge of Word and Excel an advantage
• Efficient with problem solving skills
• Able to communicate and work alone and as part of a team
• Aware and able to demonstrate an understanding of basic food hygiene
