Job summary

Saputo Dairy UK is hiring experienced Production Operators for the Wensleydale Creamery site in Hawes, Yorkshire Dales. You will join a team, support multiple lines, and progress to guide teams while upholding Health & Safety, Quality, and Cost targets.

Expect to work four 10-hour days, with a rotating day off, and an hourly rate of £13.88. Full training on products and processes is provided, alongside a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Clear communication in English.
• Experience with manual handling.
• Ability to follow standard procedures.
• Adequate numeracy and literacy for the role.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 and Health & Safety Level 2 desirable.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through production roles on cheese lines and packaging.
• Operate ENE filler or vacuum packers and identify faults.
• Assist on cheese room and packing areas with CCP paperwork.
• Adhere to SOPs, site policies and SSOW.
• Meet KPIs and food hygiene requirements.
• Conduct line quality checks and report issues.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitisation as per work instructions.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We have two exciting opportunities for experienced Production Operators to join Saputo’s Wensleydale Creamery site in Hawes, Yorkshire Dales.

In these roles you will be part of and will support lines of 3-6 Production Operators at our cheese production, processing and packaging factory.

You will learn and develop the skills required to work on different lines including packaging, cheese smoking, and cheese preparation.

Once upskilled in the process, we would like to provide the opportunity for Production Operators in these roles to also guide the teams, following and ensuring best practice for Health & Safety, Quality, and Cost Management.

Shift Pattern:

In these roles you will work 40 hours per week, doing four 10-hour days, with a rotating day off.

Hourly Rate: £13.88

YOU’LL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY…

• Working within the production team rotating through all jobs associated with making and packing cheese, including:
  • Cheese room- CCP paperwork (Tables)
  • Machine op setting up ENE filler and or vac-packer and identifying faults
  • Press room & knocking out
  • Packing rooms CCP paperwork and labels & (metal detection)
• Following Standard Operating Procedures, Site Policies and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
• Meeting KPIs and food hygiene requirements
• Carrying out visual line quality checks against required standards
• Reporting any food safety and health & safety non-conformances or behavioural issues to your line manager
• Adhering to Clean as You Go practices in work area
• Ensuring and verifying all cleaning and sanitization chemicals are correct and used as per work instructions
• Ensuring cleaning is performed and verified during production at the end of the manufacturing day

YOU’RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE…

• Able to demonstrate good communication skills and a solid level of written and spoken English
• Skilled and experienced in manual handling
• Able to follow basic instructions and adhere to standard procedures
• Able to demonstrate appropriate levels of numeracy and literacy as required for the role
• Trained or experienced in basic Food & Hygiene Level 2 and Health & Safety Level 2 (desirable)
