Job summary

Saputo Inc. in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Cheese Packer to gain hands-on experience in the cheese-making process, supporting product quality and packaging compliance before maturation. You will work with packing equipment, monitor data via SCADA, and help ensure traceability and packaging standards are met.

The role offers progression into cheese making, whey production, and quality, with a 3 on 3 off shift pattern (days and nights) and a salary of £33,361.92 per annum.

Responsibilities

• Operate cheese packing equipment per SOPs and production instructions.
• Monitor the process and maintain product quality.
• Troubleshoot equipment and assist with breakdowns as needed.
• Handle 20kg cheese blocks and box up to 10 tonnes per hour when automation is unavailable.
• Keep accurate records and take corrective action to maintain line efficiency and packaging quality.
• Adhere to hygiene and housekeeping requirements in the cheese department.
• Identify opportunities to improve working methods.

This Cheese Packer position is one where you will gain experience of the cheese-making process, supporting the quality of product being made, ensuring they are packaged and meet compliance and quality standards before being sent off to mature. The role is one with real progression opportunities, where you can build a career in the industry across a range of areas - including into cheese making, whey production, and quality. Your responsibilities will span utilising computers (SCADA) to manage the process and ensure traceability through tracking of data for analysis of the cheese and the process, ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality products. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience within production and food preparation environments.

Shift Pattern: 3 on 3 off, days and nights. 7 - 7

YOU'LL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY...

• Operating cheese packing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production instruction
• Showing attention to detail and monitoring the process
• Communicating clearly and supporting with problem solving in the event of a breakdown
• Maintaining cheese quality by manually handling 20kg cheese blocks and manually boxing up to 10 tonnes an hour in the event of automated machinery being unavailable
• Keeping accurate records and taking the necessary corrective action to maintain cheese line efficiencies and packaging quality
• Understanding the need for, and carrying out, hygiene and housekeeping requirements within the cheese department in accordance with relevant schedules and food safety requirements
• Identifying and communicating opportunities to improve working methods

YOU'RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE...

• Someone who has deep and demonstratable experience working within a food production environment
• Knowledgeable with basic IT skills with the ability to use a PC/HMI/SCADA
• Able to demonstrate thinking on your feet with problem solving skill
• A strong communicator and able to work as part of a team and independently
• Aware of basic food hygiene requirements
