Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is seeking a Continental Shift Operator / Counterbalance FLT Driver for a busy battery recycling facility in Darley Dale, Derbyshire. The role combines forklift driving with battery sorting, auditing and general production duties on a 4-on/4-off pattern.

Two shifts are offered: 06:00-18:00 and 18:00-06:00, with four days off between rotations and an 18-day rostered break after seven rotations. Temporary to permanent opportunity with £20.37 per hour.

Qualifications

• A valid B1 Counterbalance FLT licence.

Continental Shift Operator / Counterbalance FLT Driver - Darley Dale

£20.37 per hour | Continental 4-on/4-off Pattern | Temp to Perm

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for a Continental Shift Operator / Counterbalance FLT Driver to join a well-established industrial recycling operation in Darley Dale, Derbyshire.

This is a varied, hands-on role within a busy battery recycling facility, combining Counterbalance FLT driving with battery sorting, auditing and general production duties.

Please note: this is not a full-time FLT driving position. You will also be required to work along the production conveyor, sorting and auditing batteries as part of the recycling process.

The Role

• Operating a B1 Counterbalance Forklift Truck when required to move materials around the site.

• Sorting batteries along the production conveyor.

• Auditing and inspecting batteries as part of the recycling process.

• Supporting production operations and maintaining the flow of materials.

• Carrying out general operational duties as required.

• Following site health and safety procedures at all times.

• Wearing the required PPE, including respiratory protection where necessary.

Hours and Pay

• Pay: £20.37 per hour (£16.00 basic rate + £4.37 shift premium).

• Shift pattern: Continental 4-on/4-off rotation.

• Two day shifts: 06:00-18:00.

• Two night shifts: 18:00-06:00.

• Four days off before the next rotation.

• After seven rotations, an 18-day rostered break.

• Contract: Temporary to permanent opportunity.

• Location: Darley Dale, Derbyshire.

Important Information

This role involves a combination of FLT driving and hands-on production work. You will not be driving a forklift for the entire shift, so you must be comfortable carrying out battery sorting, auditing and general duties on the production line.

The recruitment process includes a site tour, blood test and occupational health monitoring. Candidates must be comfortable working in a heavy industrial environment, wearing full PPE including overalls and a respiratory mask for their full shifts.
