Job summary

Stannah Rail Manufacturing is seeking a Production Manager for the Newburn site, Newcastle Upon Tyne. The role leads the rail production operation with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, cost and people development.

It requires strategic and operational leadership, delivering continuous improvement and building a high-performing workforce. The position is permanent, full-time with hours Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:45 and Friday 08:00–13:00, flexible to support plant needs.

• Desirable background in bespoke manufacturing, automotive, heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing environments
• Champions safety-first culture and ensures health, safety and environmental standards compliance

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join Stannah Stairlift Manufacturing Site based at our Newburn site, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

This role will involve leading all manufacturing activities across the rail production operation, ensuring world-class standards in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People Development are achieved. You will provide both strategic and operational leadership, driving continuous improvement initiatives while developing a high-performing and engaged workforce.

As the Production Manager, you will work full-time hours Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:45, Friday 08:00 to 13:00 with flexibility required to support business and plant needs.

This role is a permanent contract offeringa great opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced production environment, leading large teams and driving operational excellence.

To be successful as the Production Manager, it is essential that you have previous experience in a manufacturing leadership role, managing multiple production teams within a fast-paced environment. Experience in bespoke manufacturing, automotive, heavy engineering, or industrial manufacturing environments would be desirable.

• Champion a Safety First culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental standards.
• Lead day-to-day production operations to achieve customer demand, OTIF, productivity and efficiency targets.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance operational performance.
• Develop, coach and lead production teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous learning.
• Manage quality performance, budgets, resources and cross-functional relationships to support business objectives.
• Significant experience in a manufacturing leadership role with responsibility for multiple production teams.
• Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills with a proven track record of delivering operational improvements.
• Excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, performance management and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Level 5 qualification in Management/Leadership, IOSH Managing Safely and experience of Six Sigma/RCCA methodologies.
