Job summary

Placr Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client, a highly successful and innovative engineering manufacturer based in East Sussex.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Engineer to join a growing business at the forefront of advanced engineering and manufacturing. You will support New Product Introduction (NPI), drive process improvement, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety across the plant.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Production Engineering role.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience using CAD software.
• Proven manufacturing/engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process from design through to manufacture.
• Oversee and continually improve manufacturing processes to maximise efficiency and quality.
• Lead and manage Root Cause Analysis investigations using 8D methodologies.
• Maintain and administer the 8D/RMA system.
• Develop production operating instructions and equipment specifications.
• Implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Diagnose manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve production methods.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and best practice.
• Review engineering drawings, BOMs and manufacturing routes for production readiness.
• Create and maintain production documentation where required.
• Coordinate meetings with internal departments and project stakeholders.
• Analyse manufacturing data and recommend productivity improvements.
• Source materials and equipment for engineering improvements.
• Promote safe working practices.

Working within a collaborative engineering team, you'll play a key role in supporting new product introduction (NPI), improving manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse manufacturing data and recommend improvements to productivity, labour efficiency and costs.
• Source materials and equipment required for engineering improvements.
• Promote safe working practices and identify any unsafe conditions or procedures.
• Stay up to date with advances in manufacturing technology and engineering best practice.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' experience within a Production Engineering role.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience using CAD software.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics.
• Experience within precision engineering or high-tech manufacturing.
• Hands-on engineering and assembly experience.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative team.
• Positive, proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
