Job summary

Marcus Webb Associates Limited in Hastings, East Sussex, UK is seeking a Production Engineer to drive change on the factory floor, lead continuous improvement projects and solve complex manufacturing problems within a cross‑functional, supportive team.

You should be a production or manufacturing engineer with hands‑on experience in electromechanical processes, metal fabrication, tooling, jigs and fixtures, plus a proven track record applying Lean and Six Sigma methods (TRIZ, 8D, FMEA) to deliver

Qualifications

  • HND or degree in manufacturing/mechanical engineering.
  • Experience as production/manufacturing engineer in product development manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to implement Lean and Six Sigma; experience with problem-solving methods (TRIZ, 8D, root cause analysis, FMEA).
  • Ability to lead logical plans to solve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience manufacturing metal fabricated components, machined parts, tools, jigs & fixtures.
  • Willingness to take on varied tasks to support operations.
  • Excellent communication and numerical data analysis skills; confident to drive change.

Production Engineer

A Production / Manufacturing Engineer position is available for candidates who relish the opportunity to affect change, drive continuous improvement projects and solve complex problems while working within a cross functional, supportive team.

In order to effectively implement change, production / manufacturing engineering candidates should be confident, able to influence; question existing processes and provide reasoned and quantifiable solutions for manufacturing improvement programmes.

The ideal candidate would be a production or manufacturing engineer with a good base understanding of processes and production techniques (electromechanical, materials, tool design etc), with industry experience across either Science, Imaging, Instrumentation, Aerospace, Defence, low volume production or product development environment and good practical hands‑on skills to fix issues on the production lines.

Skills / Knowledge Required: Production / Manufacturing Engineer
  • HND / Degree qualified in a relevant subject (e.g. manufacturing engineering, production engineering or mechanical engineering)
  • Experience gained as a production or manufacturing engineer working within a product development manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to implement Lean and Six Sigma process and experience of problem‑solving methods (e.g. TRIZ, 8D, root cause analysis, FMEA etc), and in enabling continuous improvement
  • Ability to take a problem, follow and lead logical plans to solve the issues and implement corrective actions and solutions
  • Experience gained in manufacturing of metal fabricated components, machined parts, designing and making tools, jigs & fixtures within the manufacturing process.
  • Willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the operations team to fix or improve processes, products and shipments
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), coupled with strong numerical ability (data analysis) along with a confident manner and the ability to drive change
