Job summary

Mitchel & Co in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter is seeking a Production Assistant to join our hands-on production team. This role involves supporting customers, production staff, and the wider business with administration, stock control and order processing.

You will need to be highly organised, reliable and a confident communicator, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work closely with suppliers, workshop staff, and management.

Qualifications

  • Experience in administration within production or jewellery environment.
  • Comfortable with handling high-value items and maintaining precise records.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer communication via email and telephone, including orders and diary management.
  • Support the workshop and production team with day-to-day administration and WIP tracking.
  • Maintain accurate stock and inventory records including diamonds, gemstones and components.
  • Carefully document, weigh and check high-value jewellery and components during production.
  • Assist with purchasing, supplier orders, stock replenishment and product costings.
  • Cross-reference invoices and maintain production records.
  • Liaise with suppliers, trade partners and external stakeholders.
  • Support website administration, product listings and pricing.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and dependable office assistant to join our busy, hands-on Production team. This is a varied role supporting our customers, production team and wider business. The ideal candidate will be a confident people person and all-round team player, with excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage customer communication via email and telephone, including orders, records, appointments and diary management.
  • Support the workshop and production team with day-to-day administration and work-in-progress tracking.
  • Maintain accurate stock and inventory records, including diamonds, gemstones, precious metals and components.
  • Carefully document, weigh and check high-value jewellery and components throughout the production process.
  • Assist with purchasing, supplier orders, stock replenishment and product costings.
  • Cross-reference invoices and maintain accurate financial and production records.
  • Liaise with suppliers, trade partners, the Assay Office and other external stakeholders.
  • Support website administration, product listings, pricing and online content.
  • Handle confidential information professionally and maintain high standards of security.
  • Organise office supplies, paperwork, diaries, meetings and general administration.
  • Follow company health & safety and security procedures.
  • Provide flexible, hands-on support across the business wherever required.

Salary negotiable depending on experience.
