Product Safety Engineer - Defence Hazard & Risk Leader

Job summary

A defense sector client is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to support engineering teams in delivering compliant products. You will develop safety documentation, manage hazard logs, and ensure alignment with MOD safety standards. Ideal candidates should have a degree in a relevant engineering field and strong communication skills. This role is a contract position lasting 12 months with a full-time commitment in Glascoed, Wales.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to produce technical safety reports and ALARP arguments.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical safety information to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Safety & Environmental Case (SEC) documentation.
• Create and manage Product Hazard Logs.
• Conduct safety reviews of engineering designs.
• Support project teams with safety-related input.
• Perform hazard analysis techniques including FMEA and FTA.

Skills

Experience with the engineering lifecycle

Familiarity with UK MOD standards (Def Stan 00-056, DSA 03.OME)

Ability to produce technical safety reports and ALARP arguments

Strong communication skills

Education

Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
