Job description

About us

Headquartered in London, we operate internationally and at Lloyd’s. With a global team of over 1000 people and 10 international offices, we’re able to advise from Brussels to Bermuda. As an independent (re)insurance broking firm we work with intermediaries, direct insureds and reinsurers. For over 120 years we’ve been industry leaders in a variety of specialist areas.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Product Owner to help maximise the value delivered by our product team. You will turn customer needs, business priorities and our product roadmap into clear, actionable work that enables teams to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Working closely with Product Management, delivery teams and key stakeholders, you will shape what the team builds next. Your focus will be on upcoming sprints and releases, translating strategic objectives into prioritised epics, features, user stories and backlog items.

You will take ownership of the product backlog, ensuring it is well defined, refined and ordered according to business value, customer need and return on investment. You will work day to day with Agile development teams to clarify requirements, answer questions, resolve scope decisions and ensure the team has the direction needed to deliver successfully.

You will provide clear product vision and direction throughout the delivery lifecycle, supporting the creation of release plans and setting expectations for the delivery of new functionality. You will actively identify and help remove impediments that could affect sprint or release goals, while ensuring product defects are assessed and prioritised appropriately.

A key part of the role will be representing the customer in product decisions. You will develop a strong understanding of the market, users and product roadmap, ensuring stakeholder views are considered while maintaining clear priorities and delivery focus. You will act as a trusted link between clients, the product team, management, business change teams, IT colleagues and external suppliers.

You will build effective relationships across the business, ensuring stakeholders understand project progress, key decisions, issues and risks that may affect delivery. You will be confident in challenging constructively, making informed decisions and taking ownership of outcomes.

Success in this role will be reflected in well-planned sprints and releases, a clear and prioritised product backlog, demonstrable value delivered to customers and the business, and strong alignment between stakeholders and delivery teams.

About you

To be successful, you will have previous experience as a Product Owner, along with strong stakeholder management skills and experience managing and prioritising product backlogs. You will be confident gathering, documenting and communicating requirements, and able to work effectively with both business and technical teams.

You will have experience of working in Agile environments and be highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting. You will bring the confidence to challenge assumptions, make decisions and take accountability for delivery. Experience within insurance would be beneficial, but is not essential.

You will be expected to meet Miller’s standards, policies, procedures and controls, including those relating to compliance, legal and financial crime requirements. You will also comply with any relevant external requirements, including Lloyd’s byelaws and FCA rules where applicable, and will actively promote the Miller brand and values in the market.

On top of a competitive salary we offer a fantastic benefits package including:

  • 10% pension contribution from Miller. In addition, Miller will match any employee contributions up to 5%.
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Medicare cash plan
  • Minimum of 25 days annual leave (with flexibility to buy more)
  • Life Assurance
  • Income Protection
  • Critical Illness cover
