Job summary

Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Severn Beach, Bristol, is seeking a Product Development Engineer to investigate complex product challenges, validate innovative designs, and drive product improvements through thorough testing and development.

You will support the Product Development team with technical assays, root-cause analysis, and robust documentation to ensure quality and manufacturability in high-technology environments.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in electro-mechanical systems production engineering environment.
• Experience in a fast-paced operations environment.
• Commercial awareness.
• Knowledge of Design validation methodologies (DFM, DFA, DFS).
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Recent and practical experience of mechanical and electrical assembly.

Responsibilities

• Product Engineering Issues on Released Platforms: provide technical assistance and support to ensure root causes and engaging customer issues are investigated thoroughly.
• Identify root causes using PT problem solving methodology or 8D RCA where necessary.
• Collate evidence and reporting is concise and traceable.
• Support build documentation for assembly and test plans.
• Interrogate BOMs, ECOs and DPs effectively.
