Job summary

Kainos is seeking a Product Consultant to take ownership of backlog maturity from inception to delivery, driving MVP thinking and stakeholder communication. You will lead agile ceremonies, run workshops, and develop junior staff, while maintaining strong client relationships in a defence-focused environment.

You will collaborate across teams to translate requirements into user stories, manage scope, and ensure successful delivery within commercial constraints.

Qualifications

• Experience in bespoke software delivery within an agile external client project.
• Defence sector experience.
• Active DV clearance.
• Experience across the full software delivery lifecycle.
• Excellent workshop facilitation for stakeholder groups.
• Ability to model as-is and to-be business processes.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-team collaboration.
• Scope breakdown from inception to MVP delivery.
• Elicit functional, technical, and non-functional requirements into user stories.
• Backlog prioritisation and dependency management.
• Client/supplier relationship experience.
• Experience contributing to sales activities.
• Mentoring juniors in Agile environments.
• Ability to explain technical jargon to non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Own backlog maturity and feature ownership from inception to delivery.
• Lead agile ceremonies and workshops with stakeholders to achieve consensus.
• Coach and develop junior team members and manage performance.
• Support MVP thinking and communicate value to project teams and stakeholders.
• Engage closely with clients on site to ensure delivery aligns with expectations.
