Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a Procurement Spend Compliance Practitioner to join our Transformation, Reporting and Intelligence team. You will analyse procurement spend data from multiple sources to produce compliance reporting and support dashboards.

The role focuses on identifying non-compliant spend, contract leakage and risks, translating complex data into insights for senior leaders and improving data quality through collaboration with finance and procurement colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience analysing data in regulated, governance or compliance environments.
• Advanced Excel data manipulation, cleansing and analysis of large datasets.
• Ability to identify trends, interpret numerical information and present insights clearly.
• Excellent written communication, with reports, dashboards and data visualisations.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to maintaining accurate data.
• Collaborative approach to working with colleagues to improve data quality and resolve issues.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in procurement analytics.

Responsibilities

• Collect, validate and analyse procurement and spend data from multiple sources to produce accurate compliance reporting.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of spend compliance dashboards and reports.
• Monitor procurement activity to identify non-compliant spend, leakage and risks.
• Undertake detailed analysis to identify trends, anomalies and potential procurement risks.
• Produce reports and visualisations translating data into actionable insights for senior leaders and governance boards.
• Work with finance teams and budget holders to improve data quality and strengthen compliance.
• Support procurement strategy development through evidence-based analysis and improvement initiatives.
