Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd in Motherwell, Scotland, are seeking an Assistant Buyer to join their growing procurement team within a roofing and cladding contractor.

You will assist with procurement of materials, plant and subcontractor packages for live projects, obtain quotations, raise purchase orders, and support cost control across multiple live schemes. This role offers clear career progression.

Qualifications

• Some purchasing or construction experience is desirable.
• Experience in buying, purchasing, procurement or construction-related role desirable.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good negotiation and communication skills.
• Based within commuting distance of Glasgow.
• Full UK driving licence (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Assist with procurement of materials, plant and subcontractor packages for live projects.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations to ensure best value.
• Raise purchase orders and maintain procurement records.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Liaise with site teams to ensure materials are delivered on time and in line with project programmes.
• Support the commercial team with cost control and procurement reporting.
• Assist with supplier negotiations and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
