Job summary

Sydney Mitchell Llp in Shirley is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join their team. This role involves advising clients on a diverse range of contentious and non-contentious private client matters, including wills, estate planning, and trust creation.

Private Client Solicitor (3‑5 years PQE)

We are looking for an experienced Private Client Solicitor with 3‑5 years PQE, CILEX or a similar qualification to join our Private Client team in Shirley.

In this role you will advise a diverse client base across a broad range of contentious and non‑contentious Private Client matters, taking on real responsibility from day one in a collaborative, commercially focused environment.

The opportunity

You’ll manage a full, mixed caseload of private client matters, including:

• Advising clients on wills, estate planning, inheritance tax and asset protection matters.
• Managing probate and estate administration matters from instruction through to completion.
• Drafting wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney and other private client documentation.
• Advising executors, trustees, attorneys and beneficiaries on their duties and responsibilities.
• Handling Court of Protection applications and deputyship matters.
• Providing advice on trust creation, administration and succession planning.
• Assisting clients with later‑life planning, including care fee considerations and capacity issues.
• Liaising with financial advisers, accountants and other professional contacts to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
• Delivering practical, client‑focused legal advice tailored to individual circumstances.
• Supporting business development activity through networking, relationship building and community engagement initiatives.

About you

You will bring:

• 3–5 years PQE, CILEX or similar in Private Client Law within a UK law firm.
• Good knowledge of trusts, administration of estates, wills, powers of attorney, Court of Protection applications.
• Ability to manage a full, mixed caseload of private client matters.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Self‑motivation and a track record of providing excellent client service.
