Job summary

Ministry of Justice seeks a supervisor for prison workshops to train prisoners in health and safety, COSHH, and machinery use. You will manage attendance, wages, and records while maintaining high standards of security and discipline.

The role involves coordinating with case managers, contributing to ACCT/SIR reporting, and supporting workshop operations. Hybrid working is available in the UK only.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising prisoners in workshop settings and maintaining discipline.
• Knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and safety practices.
• Ability to induct prisoners and tailor training to individual needs.
• Record keeping, scheduling and quality assurance responsibilities.
• Willingness to support workshop activities and reports.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the selection process of prisoners for the workshop.
• Induct prisoners to the workshop and train them in health and safety, COSHH, machinery and tooling usage.
• Provide support and tailor training requirements to individual needs; set work schedules and manage targets.
• Supervise and manage prisoners safely, including security checks and performance appraisal.
• Contribute to risk and safety assessments for workshop materials and areas.
• Prepare and maintain prisoner training records and reports; log attendance and wages.
• Attend meetings and provide administrative support for workshop activities.
