Job summary

Manpower UK Limited is seeking an Instructor (Band 3) for HMP Stocken to supervise prisoners and support rehabilitation through structured work in prison workshops. The role focuses on safety, security, and maintaining high standards while promoting a positive working culture within a disciplined environment.

You will lead workshop activities, train on health and safety, COSHH, and equipment use, and contribute to learning and records.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the selection and induction of prisoners into workshop activities.
• Train prisoners in health and safety procedures, COSHH requirements, and the safe use of tools and equipment.
• Support individual learning and development needs within the workshop environment.
• Set work schedules, monitor productivity, and maintain quality standards.
• Supervise and manage prisoners safely, securely and decently during workshop activities.
• Conduct required prisoner searches and maintain security procedures.
• Maintain accurate attendance, pay, and work records.
• Contribute to prisoner reports, sentence planning, ACCT documentation, VRIRs, SIRs and IEP reviews where required.
• Assist with health and safety risk assessments and workshop reviews.
• Order materials and monitor stock usage to meet operational requirements.
• Attend relevant meetings and provide administrative support for workshop activities.
