Job summary

Ministry of Justice / HM Prison & Probation Service is seeking an instructor to supervise prisoners in workshops, ensure health and safety compliance, and manage day-to-day production targets in a secure setting. The role involves training in COSHH, machinery and tool use, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising prisoners in workshop environments.
• Ability to train prisoners in health and safety and COSHH.
• Maintain discipline and safety while delivering work activities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in selecting prisoners for the workshop.
• Induct prisoners and train them in health and safety, COSHH, machinery and tools usage.
• Set work schedules, manage targets and quality standards.
• Supervise prisoners securely and monitor performance and conduct searches.
• Contribute to risk assessments and related safety reports.
• Log attendance, prisoner hours and piecework where applicable.
• Provide admin support and maintain workshop documentation.
