Qualifications

• Supervise prisoners and deliver training to achieve national qualifications.
• Ensure health and safety and COSHH compliance in workshop areas.
• Maintain discipline, monitor performance and support development.
• Log attendance, hours worked and wages; maintain records.
• Operate safety equipment and conduct basic tool/machine checks.

Responsibilities

• Induct prisoners to workshop areas and train them on health and safety and COSHH.
• Set work schedules and manage targets and quality standards.
• Assess prisoners' skills against national qualification standards.
• Log attendance, hours and wages, including piece work where applicable.
• Maintain workshop security, conduct fabric/tool checks and report faults.
• Contribute to inmate reports, regime monitoring and training records.
• Support external organisations and colleges where relevant.
• Possibly supervise basic workshops in exceptional short-term cases.
