Job summary

Ministry of Justice is seeking an instructor for the Waste Management unit within a prison. The role involves non-operational duties with no line management responsibilities and non-rotational work.

You will supervise waste handling, provide training to prisoners, and ensure compliance with environmental standards and reporting requirements. Responsibilities include waste processing, liaising with contractors, maintaining records and supporting the Environment Committee.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process and dispose of waste materials in the establishment in a compliant and effective way.
• Manage control measures for restricted waste such as shredding and baling of confidential waste.
• Liaise with contractors for services like skip collection and removal of waste; maximise return on commodities.
• Record all waste removed from site for weight, cost and revenue; maintain waste transfer notes and report recycling data monthly.
• Deliver training and accredited qualifications to prisoners; maintain training records with SMART targets.
