Job title: Print Machine Operator (Platen Operator)
Location: Thame, Oxfordshire
Contract Details: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 40 hours per week, rotating shifts:
- 06:00am - 2:00pm, Monday to Friday (30 mins lunch break)
- 2:00pm - Midnight, Monday to Thursday (40 mins lunch break)
Salary: 27,040 - 39,520 per annum ( 13.00 - 19.00 per hour), depending on experience

My client is looking for a Platen Operator to join their skilled production team in Thame.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain platen presses to produce high-quality printed products
- Carry out cutting, creasing, embossing, and debossing processes to specification
- Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to ensure optimum quality and efficiency
- Interpret job tickets, artwork layouts, and production specifications accurately
- Conduct routine quality and safety checks
- Identify and resolve minor machine and quality issues
- Work closely with production, design, and quality teams to ensure customer requirements are met
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards around machinery and work areas
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity
Skills and Attributes
- Previous experience operating platen presses or similar print finishing equipment is highly beneficial, although training will be provided
- Strong technical understanding of cutting, creasing, embossing, and debossing processes
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to read and interpret production specifications and job instructions
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
Desirable Skills
- Experience within a commercial print, packaging, or manufacturing environment
- Relevant training, apprenticeship, or qualifications in print or manufacturing
