Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd invites an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join their London team on a hybrid basis. You will lead development-related transport projects, providing technical ownership and strategic guidance to clients and colleagues.

Key responsibilities include delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals, developing transport strategies, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals.
• Strong technical knowledge of transport planning, modelling and development proposals.
• Experience using TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions, LinSig or similar software.
• Good understanding of MfS, DMRB and LTN 1/20.
• Experience managing projects and providing technical guidance to colleagues.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
• A proactive and commercially aware approach.
• The ability to mentor and support more junior members of the team.
• Membership of TPS, CIHT, ICE or CILT would be advantageous, as would chartership or working towards chartership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex development-related transport projects.
• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals.
• Develop transport strategies and undertake multi-modal trip generation, forecasting and scenario testing.
• Provide technical guidance across transport planning and modelling.
• Use industry-standard software including TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions and LinSig.
• Apply MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20 and Healthy Streets guidance.
• Manage project teams, delegate tasks and oversee budgets and timelines.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and stakeholders.
• Represent clients at meetings, consultations and public inquiries when required.
• Support business development, bids and identify new opportunities.
• Mentor and develop junior and senior team members.
