Aldwych Consulting Ltd in Manchester is seeking a Senior Consultant Transport Planner to join our growing team. You will lead development-planning transport work, manage client relationships and guide junior staff, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

The role covers transport assessments, travel plans, data analysis, junction modelling and masterplanning input, with a strong emphasis on delivery and client service.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in development-related transport planning.
• Strong understanding of planning policy and guidance, including NPPF, PPG, Local Transport Plans, and LTN 1/20.
• Proven project management with budgets, programmes and client relationships.
• Chartered status desirable or working toward chartership with CIHT/TPS/ICE/CILT.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Access Appraisals and Environmental Statement chapters.
• Support the promotion of development sites through the Local Plan process.
• Oversee data analysis, multi-modal trip generation forecasting, scenario testing and accessibility assessments.
• Undertake and review junction capacity modelling using tools such as Junctions and LinSig.
• Develop sustainable transport strategies and provide transport input into masterplanning and highway design.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing clear and commercially focused technical advice.
• Lead engagement with local authorities and stakeholders, including meetings, negotiations and consultation responses.
• Manage project programmes, resources, budgets and deadlines.
• Review technical work and provide quality assurance across projects.
• Mentor and support junior transport planners.
