Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join our Northampton team, leading development-led transport planning across residential, commercial and strategic schemes. You will deliver high-quality guidance, manage client relationships and drive growth in our transport planning offering in Northampton and the wider region.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, project delivery and client development within a multidisciplinary network, with a flexible hybrid working

Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of transport planning projects across residential, mixed-use, commercial, employment and strategic development schemes.
• Providing strategic transport planning advice to developers, housebuilders, landowners and other private-sector clients.
• Advising clients throughout the development process, from early-stage feasibility and land promotion through to masterplanning and planning applications.
• Preparing, reviewing and overseeing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and transport strategies.
• Assessing the transport implications of development proposals and developing appropriate mitigation measures.
• Supporting sustainable transport, accessibility and movement strategies that contribute to well-connected places.
• Leading engagement with local highway authorities, planning officers and other stakeholders.
• Supporting clients through planning applications, negotiations and technical discussions.
• Managing project teams, programmes, budgets and technical deliverables to ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients, strengthening existing relationships and developing new ones.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across planning, highways, engineering, infrastructure and environment.
• Contributing to bids, tenders, fee proposals and client presentations.
• Identifying opportunities to develop existing accounts and secure new work.
• Sharing your market knowledge and helping identify opportunities across the development and transport planning sectors.
• Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior colleagues.
• Contributing to the continued development and growth of our Transport Planning team.
