Job summary

AZTRUM in Leeds is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial and industrial projects. You will set technical direction, review complex designs, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring delivery to programme and budget.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with ICE or IStructE, or an experienced Senior Engineer working towards Chartership.
• Strong technical experience in structural design, particularly reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Extensive experience reviewing calculations and signing off complex designs.
• Knowledge of Tekla and relevant engineering design packages.
• Understanding of drainage and civil design would be beneficial.
• Experience managing projects and leading design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering projects from concept to completion, delivering to programme and budget.
• Provide technical authority on complex designs and sign-off.
• Offer technical input across RC and steel structures, foundations, and wider works.
• Review calculations and AutoCAD drawings for accuracy and coordination.
• Mentor engineers and develop technical capabilities within the team.
• Support workload planning and project management with senior management.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and consultants to resolve complex issues.
• Contribute to development of technical standards within the business.
• Work on a varied portfolio across residential, commercial, industrial, educational and waste management sectors.
