Job summary

Multidisciplinary Consultancy is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer in North Yorkshire. You will lead structural design for diverse projects, coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team and delivering cost-effective, constructible solutions.

The role requires hands-on calculations with AutoCAD, TEDDS and Tekla, site surveys, meetings, and overseeing construction phases while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring CDM compliance with UK standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Extensive post-qualification experience in an engineering consultancy.
• Strong understanding of RC, steel, timber and masonry design.
• Proficiency in design software and MS Office tools.
• Ability to work independently on surveys, designs and reporting.
• Excellent communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
• Experience working on building structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop structural design solutions for superstructures and substructures.
• Collaborate within a multi-discipline design team to deliver constructable, cost-effective outcomes.
• Produce detailed calculations and specifications using hand calculations and AutoCAD, TEDDS, Tekla.
• Manage multiple project workflows, budgets and timelines; support junior engineers.
• Conduct site surveys, attend meetings, respond to queries, oversee construction phases.
• Undertake structural condition assessments and remediation reports.
• Ensure compliance with CDM regs and UK/European standards.
