Job summary

WSP is seeking a Chartered Structural Engineer to deliver structural design for project packages, oversee technicians in 3D modeling, and work within multidisciplinary teams. You will communicate design concepts through various means and visit sites during construction to assess structures.

The role involves reporting to the lead structural engineer and engaging with external consultants to contribute to project success. A focus on low carbon design and embodied carbon assessment is encouraged.

Qualifications

• An engineering degree and Chartered status (MIStructE / MICE).
• Working knowledge of structural engineering principles and Eurocodes.
• Developing understanding of analytical techniques and design software.
• Interest in low carbon design and embodied carbon assessment.
• Willingness to take responsibility for designs and support less experienced teammates.

Responsibilities

• Undertake structural engineering design for discrete packages, including reports, calculation packages, and specifications.
• Supervise technicians in producing 3D models and drawings communicating the solutions clearly.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated design solutions.
• Communicate designs verbally and through sketching, drawings, writing and presentations.
• Visit sites to inspect during construction and assess existing structures.
• Report to the lead structural engineer and engage with multidisciplinary project teams.
