Marks & Spencer is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Supply Chain & Logistics team. You will drive modernisation of mission-critical systems powering warehouse operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build robust, scalable software for millions of customers.

You will lead technology strategy, promote best practices, and mentor engineers while delivering high-impact systems at scale within a hybrid UK-based setup.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering technology strategy with measurable business value.
• Deep expertise in software engineering best practices and DevOps principles.
• Experience leading solution architecture, cloud, security, observability and performance at scale.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes across senior technical and product leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical excellence across the full software development lifecycle, from design to launch and operations.
• Define technical direction and investments, aligning priorities with Engineering, Technology and Product leaders.
• Promote clean code, architecture, testing, CI/CD and automation across teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to Communities of Practice to grow capability.
• Strengthen the engineering organisation through recruitment, onboarding, and external thought leadership.
