Job summary

Marks & Spencer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve our Order Management platform, enabling fast, reliable customer fulfilment across checkout, fulfilment, amendments, and returns. The role focuses on backend design, enterprise services, and scalable systems in a large retail environment.

You’ll own features end-to-end, influence architecture, improve automation and observability, and collaborate with product teams and fulfilment stakeholders to deliver improved customer experiences

Qualifications

• Senior software engineer with deep backend experience delivering reliable, scalable systems in complex environments.
• Strong Java engineering background for enterprise services, APIs, and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve order management capabilities across checkout, fulfilment, returns, amendments, and cancellations.
• Own features end-to-end: design, develop, test, deploy, and production support.
• Shape the technical direction of the Order Management platform with strong architecture and automation.
• Ensure observability, monitoring, resilience, and operability at scale.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, engineering teams, and fulfilment stakeholders to accelerate delivery.
