Job summary

Amey Consulting seeks a permanent Principal Engineer to lead rail design and engineering across UK projects. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, oversee schemes, and ensure quality, cost and programme objectives. Chartered status is required, with strong leadership and client-facing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Engineer or equivalent in rail/consulting.
• Ability to lead technical teams and manage design deliverables.
• Experience with health and safety management and CDM.
• Professional accreditation (Incorporated or Chartered).
• Strong client and supplier liaison capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical team leader, providing guidance to technical teams, managers, clients and suppliers.
• Lead the preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation for schemes.
• Manage budgets and costs to ensure commercial success of projects within portfolio.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives, present proposals and attend progress meetings.
• Lead the preparation of bids and technical/commercial offers for work winning.
• Promote health and safety practices within the team.
