Job description

Tetra Tech are one of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation’s (DIO) leading suppliers of professional services and have an exciting opportunity for Project Managers to join. You will be joining an established and experienced defence team, focussing on a programme of works at various stages of development.

You will be an experienced Principal Project Manager, ideally with some defence infrastructure experience. You will be collaborative, able to build solid and lasting business relationships and ready for the next challenge in your career. This is a perfect development opportunity for anyone looking to expand their knowledge base and experience.

The projects are based across East Anglia, Northamptonshire, and Gloucestershire and there will be some travel to site required.

The Role

  • Drive end-to-end project activities, including feasibility studies, construction, and commissioning, ensuring timely and successful delivery, in line with contractual obligations.
  • Empower and motivate your team to achieve outstanding results, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Track project progress against established schedules, manage resources efficiently, and proactively address any variances.
  • Oversee financial performance, preparing insightful reports for stakeholders and ensuring budget adherence.
  • Proactively manage change, project risks, and quality assurance to safeguard project success.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to establish clear objectives and effective workflows, aligned to the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive stakeholder management and communications plan to facilitate project objectives.

About You

We are seeking self-motivated, driven candidates who possess:

  • A track record delivering complex defence infrastructure projects is preferred, ideally in buildings and civils.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, coaching junior staff, and cultivating a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on quality and efficiency, delivering the scope of works on time and to budget.
  • A proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines while adapting to changing workloads.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills, to find common ground quickly and proactively.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost control, contract negotiation, and financial forecasting.
  • Experience handling sensitive projects where risk management and regulatory compliance are critical.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the confidence to present complex ideas to senior client representatives.
  • Competence in project management applications, including MS Project, Excel, Viewpoint for Projects, and CEMAR.
  • Ability to prepare and implement essential project tools such as programmes, risk registers, Stakeholder Management Plans, Project Execution Plans, and Quality Assurance Plans.
  • A commitment to ethical practices in all aspects of your work.
  • NEC 3/4, formal project management qualification, or other relevant professional accreditation are preferred
  • SC or suitability for security clearance.
  • A valid driving license is desirable.
