Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer in Manchester to join our Cyber team. The role involves deploying applications to cloud or on-prem environments, and attaining eDV clearance as needed.

You will build tooling, work with stakeholders, and drive secure, automated release processes. Working in a mature Agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust infrastructure and scalable deployments across multiple business areas.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering in Agile/SCRUM/DevOps lifecycles.
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure) and modern platforms.
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
• Experience building/deploying large-scale apps in CI/CD pipelines.
• Container platforms and orchestration (ECS, AKS, Kubernetes, Helm).
• Automation and integration tools such as Jenkins or Concourse CI; source control.

Responsibilities

Role & Responsibilities

• Work as a Principal Platform Engineer, deploying applications and software to cloud or on-prem environments for our many business areas.
• Due to the interesting work we do and the sector this team is working in, we require all candidates to be willing to attain an eDV clearance.
• Building and setting up development tools and infrastructure
• Understand the needs of project stakeholders
• Automate and improve development and release processes
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cyber security threats
• Identify technical problems and develop software updates and solutions
• Work with other engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Required experience

• Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure)
• Infrastructure as code e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible etc.
• Experience in building and deploying large-scale applications in Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines
• Container platform and orchestration systems ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/helm/Docker
• Experience in automation and integration tools such as Jenkins, Concourse CI or cloud equivalents
• Experience in scripting languages and source control
