Job summary

Raytheon UK in Gloucester is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to deploy applications and software to cloud or on‑prem environments across multiple business areas. You will help build tools, automate processes, and ensure secure, scalable platforms.

The role requires experience with Agile/SCRUM/DevOps, cloud (AWS/Azure), IaC (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet), CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, AKS).

Qualifications

• Experience in Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model.
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure).
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
• Experience building and deploying large-scale applications.
• CI/CD pipelines experience.
• Container platforms and orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, Docker).
• Automation and integration tools like Jenkins or Concourse CI.
• Scripting languages and source control proficiency.

Principal Platform Engineer

Location: Gloucester, South Gloucestershire, United Kingdom – Permanent, full time, onsite.

Role & Responsibilities

Work as a Principal Platform Engineer, deploying applications and software to cloud or on-prem environments for our many business areas.

• Building and setting up development tools and infrastructure
• Understand the needs of project stakeholders
• Automate and improve development and release processes
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cyber security threats
• Identify technical problems and develop software updates and solutions
• Work with other engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Required Experience

• Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure)
• Infrastructure as code e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible etc.
• Experience in building and deploying large-scale applications in
• Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines;
• Container platform and orchestration systems ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/helm/Docker
• Experience in automation and integration tools such as Jenkins,
• Concourse CI or cloud equivalents
• Experience in scripting languages and source control
