Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a Platform Engineer in Manchester to deploy and maintain cloud and on-prem infrastructure, with hybrid working (min 3 days on site). You will build tools, automate release processes, and ensure system security while pursuing SC and eDV clearance.

Join a mature DevOps environment within a defence and aerospace context, collaborating with SCRUM teams to deliver large-scale applications using AWS/Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Ansible.

Qualifications

• Experience in Agile/Scrum/DevOps delivery models.
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure).
• Infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible.
• Experience building/deploying large-scale apps in CI/CD pipelines.
• Container platforms and orchestration (ECS, AKS, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker).
• Automation and integration tools like Jenkins, Concourse CI or cloud equivalents.
• Experience in scripting languages and source control.

Role & Responsibilities

• Work as a Platform Engineer, deploying applications and software to cloud or on-prem environments for our many business areas.
• Due to the interesting work we do and the sector this team is working in, we require all candidates to be willing to attain an eDV clearance.
• Building and setting up development tools and infrastructure.
• Understand the needs of project stakeholders.
• Automate and improve development and release processes.
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cyber security threats.
• Identify technical problems and develop software updates and solutions.
• Work with other engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.

Required experience

• Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model.
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure).
• Infrastructure as code e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible etc.
• Experience in building and deploying large-scale applications in Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines;
• Container platform and orchestration systems ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/helm/Docker.
• Experience in automation and integration tools such as Jenkins, Concourse CI or cloud equivalents.
• Experience in scripting languages and source control.
