Job description

Principal Network Engineer

£85,000 plus annual bonus

Location: Remote, UK

We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer with a diverse infrastructure background. The role involves establishing a Technical Operations approach to both cloud and on-premises environments.

The responsibilities include managing hosting environments, ensuring observability, high availability, and information security with Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This is a senior role requiring experience with multiple projects, including legacy infrastructure and migrations to modern systems.

Expertise in Palo Alto, Next-Gen Firewalls, and Prisma is essential.

The main focus will be on observability, high availability, and infosec, supporting network infrastructure components such as switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, compute, storage, and virtualization. Experience in mergers & acquisitions is advantageous.

Technical expertise – must haves:

1. Strong Palo Alto portfolio experience with Prisma
2. Understanding of BGP with field experience in design, deployment, and troubleshooting
3. Enterprise-level system and network design experience
4. Experience with multi-vendor cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
5. Knowledge of IPSEC, DHCP, DNS
6. Experience with Juniper switches & routers (Cisco considered)
7. Knowledge of VXLAN and EVPN
8. Load balancing experience (HAProxy preferred; F5, A10, Kemp, etc. acceptable)
