Principal Network Engineer

£85,000 plus annual bonus

Location: Remote, UK

We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer with expertise in diverse infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will establish a Technical Operations approach for both cloud and on-premises setups.

The role involves managing hosting environments, ensuring observability, high availability, and information security with Infrastructure as Code (IaC). It requires handling multiple projects, including legacy infrastructure and migration to modern systems.

Expertise in Palo Alto, Next Generation Firewalls, and Prisma is essential.

The main focus is on observability, high-availability, security, and IaC, supporting infrastructure components such as switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, compute, storage, and virtualization. Experience in mergers & acquisitions is a plus.

Technical Expertise – Must Haves

1. Extensive experience with Palo Alto portfolio, including Prisma
2. Strong understanding of BGP with practical design, deployment, and troubleshooting experience
3. Enterprise-level system and network design experience
4. Experience with multi-vendor cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
5. Knowledge of IPSEC, DHCP, DNS
6. Proficiency with Juniper switches & routers (Cisco experience is also acceptable)
7. Experience with VXLAN and EVPN
8. Load balancing experience; HAProxy is preferred, with F5, A10, Kemp as alternatives
