Job summary

ASOS is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to shape the technical direction of AI-powered fashion discovery. You will lead end-to-end ML architecture for personalised experiences, drive scalable production systems and mentor engineers across Search & Discovery.

In this role, you will collaborate with ML scientists, software engineers and product managers to translate research into robust, customer-facing ML products, ensuring reliability and impact at scale.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, building and operating large-scale ML systems in production.
• Experience owning and influencing technical architecture across complex ecosystems.
• Product-focused mindset to apply ML/AI to customer and business challenges.
• Experience across ML lifecycle: data analysis, feature engineering, model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring.
• Experience building scalable, observable ML services using cloud and distributed infra.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve technical architecture for ML systems powering personalised fashion experiences.
• Lead production-grade ML products from research to robust deployment.
• Mentor engineers and promote modern software engineering practices.
• Drive cross-team architectural decisions for scalable, reliable platforms.
