Job summary

Urenco is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Capenhurst/Birchwood site. You will lead a team of engineers, provide technical leadership across FEED and major capital programmes, and ensure designs meet Urenco standards and regulatory requirements.

You will mentor engineers, drive safety and quality, and support delivery across complex projects with suppliers and contractors, upholding SQEP capability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; postgraduate qualifications desirable.
• Experience leading engineering teams and delivering major plant or infrastructure projects in regulated environments.
• FEED, design development, and project delivery expertise; strong mechanical engineering background.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineering Delivery: manage a team of Mechanical Engineers and Senior Mechanical Engineers; develop FEED packages and ensure alignment with standards.
• Support Project Delivery: oversee detailed design activities, supplier outputs, and design deviations.
• Develop Technical Capability: mentor engineers, support SQEP capability and engineering processes.
• Drive Quality & Safety: promote proactive safety culture and ensure designs meet standards and customer requirements.
