Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers is seeking a Principal Highways Engineer to support infrastructure and highway projects on a contract basis in the United Kingdom. The role provides technical leadership across highway design and development schemes, with responsibility for Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.

You will lead delivery from design through implementation, coordinate with local authorities, developers and contractors, and ensure compliance with standards while delivering

Qualifications

• Significant experience in highways engineering and infrastructure development.
• Strong knowledge of highway design principles, standards and industry best practice.
• Practical experience with Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
• Ability to lead and review highway design and technical documentation.
• Understanding of highway approval processes and local authority requirements.
• Strong communication, organisation and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and public-sector stakeholders.
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent professional experience.
