Job summary

Buro Happold Limited in the UK is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer to join our hybrid team across Edinburgh, Manchester, Bath, Leeds or London offices. You will lead complex fire engineering projects, shape design and advise clients on safety strategies.

Qualifications

• Lead fire engineering on projects including complex schemes.
• Deliver fire and life safety designs for UK-based projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide team through design processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead / project manage fire engineering projects.
• Inform and support the building design aspirations, functionality and architectural form throughout the design process.
• Take ownership for client care and general consultancy on projects.
• Take responsibility for the financial performance of projects, including invoicing and financial monitoring of projects.
• Represent Buro Happold Fire Engineering at design team meetings, both internal and externally.
• Build knowledge to identify and specify fixed fire protection systems (detection and suppression).
• Carry out and review fire engineering calculations including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis (CFD experience welcome).
• Guide, mentor and review work of senior and junior team members.
