Job summary

Kier Group plc is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead civil, structural and geotechnical projects across the UK. The role covers temporary works design and management, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and delivering safe, buildable solutions from concept through delivery.

You'll join a 100-strong team with access to a large project portfolio and opportunities to influence technical standards while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience.
• Strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles and knowledge of applicable design standards.
• Experience with temporary works design and/or management is desirable.
• Strong organisational and communication skills and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of a broad range of complex construction engineering services, including temporary works design and checking, reviewing permanent designs for compliance and buildability, supporting tenders and preconstruction planning, and providing technical support to overcome construction-stage and post-construction issues and defects.
• Acting as Project Lead for multiple complex projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery.
• Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes.
• Developing yourself, other individuals and the wider team, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, enabling the business to adapt to current and future challenges.
