Job summary

Skyscanner seeks a Principal Engineer for Identity & Privacy to shape the technical foundations that earn traveller trust while unlocking data and AI capabilities behind product experiences.

You will own the strategy for identity, consent and privacy across traveller-facing products, data platforms and operational systems, collaborating with Legal, Privacy, Security, Data Governance, Marketing and Product to deliver scalable, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Privacy and data-protection requirements (GDPR/PECR/CCPA/CPRA) translated into engineering decisions.
• Designed, built and operated large-scale distributed systems for identity, data platforms or related areas (consent, authentication).
• Led significant technical change across teams without direct line authority, creating clarity and momentum.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the long-term vision and roadmap for identity, consent and privacy engineering, aligned with product strategy.
• Lead scalable identity approaches across sessions, tracking, accounts, consent and derived identifiers.
• Shape end-to-end identity state flows from web/app to backend services and data pipelines.
• Translate privacy principles into reusable engineering patterns, platform controls and measurable standards.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Legal, Privacy, Security and Data Governance to navigate trade-offs.
• Provide technical leadership for large-scale initiatives spanning consent platform capabilities and privacy-safe experimentation.
• Coach engineers and raise standards across the engineering community.
