The Purpose

To assist the Discipline Lead in delivering the Electrical engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost. Responsible for managing the technical deliverables of the Electrical services engineering packages in line with the planned deliverables agreed by the Discipline Lead. The post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Within SQEP profile, preparing and/or checking designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and other documents supporting Nuclear and Non-Nuclear related plant, facility, and equipment within the company's licensed, authorized, and operational sites, or supporting external contracts.
  • Participate in problem solving for developing technical solutions to deficiencies or in creating new designs.
  • Support the review and approval of new designs, construction methodologies, and temporary works submitted to the Technical Authority.
  • Assist in planning activities, including task durations, effort levels, and estimated costs, with regular schedule reviews and progress reporting, utilizing Earned Value Management methodologies, and providing construction support.
  • Use Learn from Experience information to develop and share practical engineering knowledge and maintain a record of skills development.
  • Support development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities to ensure compliance with design intent and relevant regulations, including DNSP's for Nuclear related Works.
  • Maintain familiarity with procedures used within Facilities Engineering.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • Ideally a Degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Ideally Chartered Engineer, registered with the Engineering Council or working towards chartership.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the discipline, project, and post requirements.
  • Experience in designing electrical building services, including fire detection and alarm systems, industrial lighting, emergency lighting, site broadcast (PA), and HVAC.
  • Good understanding of company and departmental procedures relating to Health and Safety, Design, and Quality.
  • Ideally experience supporting the design, construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines.
